From the Captain's Desk

Come aboard our 70-foot, luxury Skipperliner cruise boat for a Holiday adventure on the Tennessee River.

As the days get shorter and the nights get cooler, the Tennessee River and its residents are changing. We're beginning to see the migratory birds and the changing leaves. We have added some wonderful opportunities to enjoy the magical lights of the holiday season aboard the Blue Moon. Check out our holiday schedule for evening holiday dessert cruises, and be sure to come downtown for the Grand Illumination on November 23rd.

At the end of December, we will move the Blue Moon upriver to the Hiwassee Island Refuge for the winter. We offer a very special treat at this location - we will begin our 3 hour Nature Cruises into the refuge to view the migrating Sandhill Cranes — and if we are lucky, a few Whooping Cranes also! Don't miss this special opportunity to get up close and personal with thousands of these wonderful creatures! Here is what it sounds like.... hear the cranes! Hear the Birds!

Here are trip notes from our Naturalist, Rick Houlk, from these past few weekends. Hopefully our special visitors will stay around for a while so that you will have a chance for some fun sightings from Mother Nature.

Birds we are seeing on the River:
Double Crested Cormorants
Immature White Ibis
Belted Kingfisher
Great Blue Heron
Red Tail Hawks
