Directions to the Hiwassee Island Refuge viewing station.

The Hiwassee Island Refuge is off Hwy 60 between the towns of Dayton and Cleveland, TN. It has a gazebo and platform area for viewing the sandhill and whooping cranes as they fly into the area. This is an excellent spot for the public to view the Operation Migration ultralights as they land and take off with the whoopers.

How to get there:
From Chattanooga via Hwy 27 N - go about 35 miles on US 27N (Dayton Pike) toward Dayton. Turn right onto US 60 toward Cleveland - go about 6 miles to the bridge crossing the Tennessee River. Go about 2 miles - look for a left turn just past twin silos on to Shadden Road, then right on to Blythe Ferry Lane, and left onto Priddy Road. Priddy Road is a one lane road with two-way traffic, so drive with caution as you go to the parking area and gazebo.
